Europe is expected to hold a dominant position in the global plastic pallets market and this is accredited to the growing adoption of plastic pallets in the food & beverage industry. According to the report, ‘Data & Trends, EU Food & Drink Industry 2018’, published by FoodDrinkEurope (a food industry confederation in the European Union) in October 2018, the turnover of the food & drink industry in Europe was valued at US$ 1233.50 Bn in 2016, making the food & drink industry the highest revenue generating sector in the EU.
Plastic Pallets are normally used in shipping food and frozen goods and other pharmaceutical or medical products with very strict hygienic conditions. The food or the commodity is packed in a container which is then placed on the pallet. The pallet is covered with plastic sheets which help to keep the goods clean and protected. Plastic Pallets are durable and lightweight, which enables them to be easily shifted from one place to another.
Plastic Pallets can be used to ship all kinds of goods, ranging from perishable fruit to factory-produced medicines and medical devices. With the introduction of new technology and rising demands for efficient packaging solutions, plastic pallets have become much more durable, lightweight, portable, and cost-effective. Plastic Pallets are usually made from high-grade polyethylene, which makes them ideal for use in shipping and packaging applications.
Key Developments:

In March 2021, Dow announced that Yelopack, a technology-based supply chain comprehensive management company, has adopted AFFINITY™ polyolefin elastomer (POE) in its existing plastic pallets, which will increase the life span of its pallets by five years -- more than doubling their current life span.
